Tommy's Fundraising; Our Story

In May 2016 we got married, it was the perfect day and everything we dreamed of. After the wedding we decided we wanted to make our little boy Brodie a big brother and expand our family. Never in a million years did I think we would have the struggles we have experienced over the past two years.

In August 2016 we suffered our first miscarriage at 9 weeks. We were lucky enough to fall pregnant again pretty quickly. However, throughout that pregnancy I had a lot of complications although never in a million years imagined going into labour and delivering our baby girl at home, at just 18 weeks. It was a difficult time for us all but we were told by our consultant that there was only 1% chance of it happening again.

In May 2017 I fell pregnant again. It was a frightening pregnancy and at 18 weeks the unimaginable happened and our second baby girl was born.

The hardest part of it all is knowing that both our baby girls were absolutely fine, yet something in me is going wrong and no consultant or doctor can figure out what or why.

A few months later we unexpectedly fell pregnant again. After losing three babies you expect by the 4th time it becomes a little easier but, no. Miscarriage number 4 happened at 10 weeks and it still broke our hearts.

This is where this fundraising event comes in.

Tommy’s are an amazing charity who help fund research into preventing miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.  Tommy's give us hope that one day in the future we will have another baby safely, here in our arms. This is why we have decided to fundraise for them. To support them in their research to save babies lives and to make pregnancy safer.

Everyday I wake up and wish it was just a bad dream. Because this kind of stuff only happens in your nightmares right? Unfortunately it doesn’t and the statistics of baby loss are worryingly scary and something I feel must be changed.

Please help us say thank you to Tommy's and save more babies lives by supporting this event or sending a donation via our fundraising page.

With thanks,

Sarah and Adam x
